Compassion, Community, Connectedness.

A Helping Hand for Those In Need

Help shouldn’t be hard to find when you’re in need.

Founded in 2019 by Rebecca and John, Heart of Compassion (HOC) is on a mission to equip churches and agencies with essential non-food items, empowering them to serve communities experiencing poverty and hardship. By providing much-needed resources, we help alleviate some of the financial burdens and stress that come with difficult circumstances, allowing churches and agencies to be a bridge of hope and support for those in need.

Over the past four years, we have helped equip our partners in serving over 10,000 individuals and families throughout upstate South Carolina, and we are now serving communities nationwide. To God be the glory!

Compassion

Every person is created in God’s image and deserves to be treated with dignity, love, and grace. We believe in seeing others through the eyes of Christ—recognizing their worth, strength, and God-given potential. Through our “no wrong door” approach, we ensure that every church and agency we support is equipped to welcome those in need with open arms, serving them with compassion, respect, and the kindness that reflects God’s love.

Community

We connect those facing poverty and hardship with the loving support of churches/agencies. By equipping our partners, we help extend God’s love through kindness, compassion, and essential resources—building lasting connections that offer hope and encouragement.

Connectedness

Human connection is at the heart of our mission, reflecting God’s love in action. By equipping churches/agencies to serve their communities, we help connect individuals with the support and resources they need. These connections become a source of hope, reminding them that they are not alone. Through faith, compassion, and practical assistance, lives are uplifted, burdens are eased, and the path toward stability is made clearer in God’s grace.

"Most of us don't think twice when we are buying things like toilet paper, cleaning products, diapers, and so many other things. But imagine if you were at the store and only had $27 to last you the entire month, but needed toilet paper, body soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. You do not have enough money to buy all of these products, which would you choose? This is the situation our recipients face, having to choose what they can or can not afford. We help restore their dignity and improve their health and well-being by providing them with the basic essentials they need."
